Longsleddale Walk

On Saturday I went out and walked two Wainwrights.

A cold day from the outset, the walk took in 37 mph winds, hail, a little snow blowing in the wind, and even sunshine poking through as I was walking back down.

Aurora Borealis

On Sunday afternoon I was watching alerts come through in the AuroraWatch UK app that I write for iPhone and iPad. Yellow, Amber, and then Red, a very high red.

I looked outside and realised that we had pretty clear sky, and a good forecast for the evening.

So I headed out once it was dark!

Waking up to Snow at Red Tarn

Having parked on Wrynose Pass late on Friday afternoon, I walked the short distance up to Red Tarn for a night wild camping.

It drizzled a little in the evening once I had pitched the tent, but in-between the mist, I was treated to some lovely views of the moon.
